The Pirate Guard Post is pretty strong, especially from CE onward. The Pirate Ship is actually pretty bad in terms of efficiency, that flat +8% does not improve with level, while the others get better and better in a smaller footprint.

The Greater Runestone at its highest level is equal to the Estate in terms of attack, but in addition to a tiny amount of medals it also makes FP (and a single good, but that's not very useful). The Fire Pagoda, while worse, does have goods production as well, if that matters. The Altar of Artemis is the second most efficient of the upgradeables, followed by the Colossus. Contestants' Estate isn't bad for lower ages, but later in the game it falls behind with its flat bonus, and otherwise it's just a house that makes a piddling number of medals and its the worst of the residentials overall. All three are solid basic buildings for attack boosting. The Checkmate Square and Speaker's Corner seem to be pretty much identical to each other, and they're only slightly worse than the Gateway. It has the most efficient attack bouns, and it generates its own happiness to balance out some of the population gain. They have the typical downside of culturals, that is they draw Aid away from production buildings, but they do make more happiness than decos.įor basic residentials, the Royal Marble Gateway is the best overall. And if you're fighting, the happiness from these SBs is just a bonus, since the Traz is probably your biggest source. Botanical Rotunda is an even stronger cultural, but it doesn't have the Carousel's defense bonus. It's just a cultural with an attack bonus, but the Carousel is also a cultural that has the same amount of space, a bigger attack bonus, and a defense bonus on top. Winner's Plaza at this point is pretty much obsolete. The Ygg should be considered just as essential as the combat GBs. Even at level 1, it's a 0.66667 attack per square which puts in in the upper range of buildings, and it only gets worse. You can see just how badly the Yggdrasil beats everything out once it's maxed. I did up a chart with the data I collected on that table:
